The Royal British Columbia Museum

The Royal British Columbia Museum is an active member of an international community of cultural institutions, and has been British Columbia's provincial museum since 1886. We collect and preserve artefacts, documents, and specimens of BC's natural history and human history, to share knowledge, promote research, and inspire curiosity and wonder.

The Royal British Columbia Museum collection includes 128 hummingbird study skins, 4 taxidermy mounts, 35 skeletons, 6 nests, and 11 egg clutches or single eggs. Because the Museum does not actively collect hummingbirds, the research collection documents where hummingbirds come into contact with humans, not where birds naturally reside in the province.
